As the Kansas City Chiefs celebrated a hard-fought 27-24 road victory over the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round of the playoffs, one unexpected twist left them feeling the chill-literally.

Left tackle Donovan Smith took to X on Sunday night to voice a post-game complaint from the locker room at Highmark Stadium claiming that the team didn’t have hot water in their locker room.

Hot water incident not the first this NFL season

The Chiefs’ triumph secured their sixth consecutive appearance in the AFC Championship Game, a remarkable feat in the post-merger NFL history.

However, the warm glow of victory was allegedly extinguished when the Bills purportedly shut off the hot water in the Chiefs’ locker room. It seems that the frigid conditions in Buffalo weren’t confined to the playing field.

This isn’t the first time showers faced an unexpected halt this season due to faulty water heaters in a rivalry game.

A similar incident occurred in November during a game between the New York Giants and the Washington Commanders, though that time it was more linked to the peculiarities of FedEx Field.

Yet, what sets this apart is the alleged spite behind the actions of the Bills.

The Bills, remaining silent on the matter, haven’t issued a statement regarding the hot water-or lack thereof that the Chiefs allegedly experienced after the game played in the bone-chilling 20-degree weather.

However, it seems the defending Super Bowl champions weren’t too fazed by the cold showers.

Chiefs set their eyes on Ravens

The Chiefs, with the second-longest streak of reaching the conference championship game since the 1970 AFL/NFL merger, now set their sights on facing Lamar Jackson and the top-seeded Baltimore Ravens.

Despite the unexpected cold reception in Buffalo, the Chiefs are undeterred in their quest to become the first repeat Super Bowl champions since the 2003-2004 Patriots.

As they celebrate their win, the longest drought of back-to-back league champions in Super Bowl history, they head to Baltimore with their eyes set on making history.

The AFC Championship game is scheduled for next Sunday, January 28, at 3pm ET.
