On May 5, 1986, Okawa Shaznay was born in Bamenda, in the North West Province of Cameroon. She grew up in the nation of her birth. At a young age, she developed an interest in theater, short films, and performing arts in her own country. She was first exposed to the world of Nollywood in the 1990s, when a torrent of Nigerian films flooded Cameroon, and she eventually came to appreciate and cherish it. At the Presbyterian Secondary School in Mankon, Bamenda, Cameroon, Okawa Shaznay finished her secondary school.
