Frank Wycheck, a beloved Tennessee Titans legend, has passed away at the age of 52.

The former tight end, renowned for his contributions to the team both on and off the field, died following a tragic fall inside his Chattanooga, TN home.

The family revealed that they plan to collaborate with experts for ongoing research on brain injuries (TBI) and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), honoring Wycheck’s wishes.

Frank Wycheck’s unforgettable play: “Music City Miracle”

Wycheck’s impact on the Titans, both during his playing days and in his post-retirement endeavors, resonated deeply with fans and teammates alike.

His blue-collar approach and undeniable talent led to a standout career, during which he amassed 505 receptions, 5,126 yards, and 28 touchdowns over 155 games.

Beyond the gridiron, Wycheck continued to make a significant mark as a sports commentator and radio host in Middle Tennessee.

Wycheck’s legacy extends beyond statistics, as he played a pivotal role in one of the most iconic moments in Titans history-the Music City Miracle.

His lateral on a kickoff return to Kevin Dyson during the AFC Wild Card game in 2000 will forever be etched in the hearts of Titans fans.

Despite facing a series of concussions that contributed to his retirement from the NFL at 32, Wycheck left the game with a sense of accomplishment and pride.

In the words of late Titans owner Bud Adams, “Overall, I think he was one of the top players ever to play for us because of what he did both on and off the field.”
