Police in Rotherham are appealing for information after two people were injured in a dog attack.

A man suffered potentially life-changing injuries in the attack which happened in Denman Road at 4.34pm on Monday, June 3. South Yorkshire Police rushed to the scene after receiving a report that two people had been injured.

Officers attempted to capture the dog, however it was unable to be controlled. The dog posed a risk of escaping and causing further injuries. It was also stopping paramedics from reaching the injured people.

Authorisation was given to destroy the dog to prevent any further injuries, a spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police has said. A 54-year-old woman suffered minor injuries while a 31-year-old man suffered serious and potentially life-altering injuries.

Enquiries are ongoing to determine how the dog came to be dangerously out of control and officers are appealing for witnesses of and those with CCTV footage to come forward.
