It is a hands-on approach to meal prep.

‘I am so excited to team up with Ziploc Endurables to show families how easy it is to get involved in the kitchen and learn some simple skills to help busy parents and caretakers all year long,’ said Guarnaschelli.

‘One way to make mealtime easier is to prep meals ahead of time. With Ziploc Endurables I use one bag to cook, freeze and then reheat my favorite meals. I truly trust my dinner with this bag,’ she added.

Alex has created two exclusive, family-friendly recipes, a Bistro Chicken Breast with Basmati Rice and a Salmon ‘Niçoise Salad’ Style with Asparagus.

The Bistro Chicken Breast has a hint of spice and a touch of vinegar.

And there is a Salmon ‘Niçoise Salad’ Style is a Mediterranean feast.

She says prepping ahead of time and storing is smart.

‘It’s great to still be able to have a delicious and home-cooked dinner with the family, even when you’re running short on time,’ she said.

‘It builds kids’ confidence in the kitchen. Anything involving toppings is a great way to get kids engaged in mealtime while building confidence with food and exploring new flavors at an early age. Instead of putting toppings on for them, give kids a chance to pick what they want from a variety of options. Think tacos, baked potatoes, omelets, cupcakes, ice cream and more.

‘Challenge your kids to find their own inspiration. I have years of professional experience, but now my daughter Ava is teaching me a thing or two from the cooking inspiration she finds.

‘For the older kids, give them a challenge to find their own mealtime inspiration. You can pick one day of the week when the kids take charge with new recipes or cuisines they find, whether it’s flipping through cookbooks and food magazines, finding old family recipes or turning to social media like Ava does to find ideas. It gets them involved in what they eat, and the whole family will benefit.’

‘Involve your kids in the prep work. Tasks like cracking eggs into bowls, pouring pre-cut ingredients into the pan or continuing to stir allows children to have ownership over part of the process and feel pride in what they created with their family. I know my daughter and I have made plenty of messes cooking together, but it helps inspire a love for cooking throughout their life.

‘Enjoy time with your family. While some meals are best made from scratch, boxed brownies and cake mix are a favorite for the whole family, including mine! Kids can be in charge of mixing and pouring right into a Ziploc Endurables container, and the whole family can eat right out of it when it’s cooled down. This means cutting back on dirty dishes and making some sweet memories along the way. I recommend adding a scoop of ice cream (or two) to the container and giving your mini sous-chef the first taste test!’
