Alexander Amos Yee is a versatile British professional triathlete and distance runner who comes to light for winning the silver medal in the Men’s Triathlon at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He is professionally known as Alex Yee. He has also won the gold medal in the Triathlon Mixed Relay at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics on Saturday 31st July 2021. He won his first individual World Championship which is the 2022 World Triathlon Sprint Championships in Montreal in Canada in 2022. Alex also became the inaugural Esport Triathlon World Champion in 2022, after finishing second at both the London and the Singapore Arena Games Triathlon events. • Yee ran 13:26 behind winner Marc Scott in 13:20, the second fastest 5 km time ever by a British athlete on 8th August 2020 in the Podium 5 km at Barrowford, Lancashire.
• Also, he ran a personal best of 7:45.81 over 3000 meters at the Bromley Twilight Meeting and started his 2020 race program as one of four male GB athletes at the ITU World Cup race at Mooloolaba in Australia, recording the fastest run time of 14:55 but only achieving a 37th-place finish overall due to a mechanic prior to T2.
• Subsequently, he was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2022 New Year Honours for services to the triathlon and in the 2021 Super League Triathlon Championship Series.
• He took the win at the Super League Triathlon, Jersey race, earlier in the season, finishing ahead of teammate Jonathan Brownlee in the process, and finished second in the SLT Arena Games, Rotterdam 2021.
• Later he competed in Super League Triathlon’s Arena Games Triathlon Powered by Zwift Esports Triathlon series in 2022 and finished 6th at the first event of the series, held at Munich’s Olympiapark.
• Yee finished in 2nd, being narrowly beaten by Germany’s Justus Nieschlag at the next event, held at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park London.
• He finished in second place behind New Zealand’s Hayden Wilde at the final event of the series, held at Marina Bay, and won the first gold medal of the Games in triathlon at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
• Alex emerged from the swim in 15th place and chased down the leader in the run to win his first major race of the season as well as won a second gold in the mixed relay with Sophie Coldwell, Sam Dickinson, and Georgia Taylor-Brown.
