He may be known as one of the most popular chefs on Earth, but Gordon Ramsay has something he cares more about than cooking: his five children. The TV star and his wife, Tana Ramsay, have been married since 1996 and share kids Megan, twins Jack and Holly, Matilda and their newest addition, baby Oscar.
Following the birth of his latest bundle of joy in April 2019, the Hell’s Kitchen star took to social media and joked that his family is finally complete. “After 3 BAFTAs and one Emmy … finally, we have won an Oscar,” the proud dad adorably captioned the collage of pics of his new child in April 2019. “Please welcome Oscar James Ramsay, who touched down at 12:58 today for some lunch! Xxx,” he added.
Oscar’s arrival was quite special for Gordon, considering it was the first time he was in the room when his wife gave birth. While chatting with host Jonathan Ross on the set of his ITV talk show, the doting dad explained why he “literally dropped to the floor and blacked out” as Tana welcomed their fifth child.
“Tana didn’t want to see me there for previous births. She said, ‘I don’t want you to see me in this state so get out,’” Gordon explained during his appearance in October 2019. “This time around, I was there and I absolutely crapped my pants. I fainted.”
After revealing he passed out, the famed restauranteur detailed his little man’s arrival. “I [sat] there and Oscar popped out through the sunroof, and then they sort of throw you on him and he’s screaming and I fell back … the nurse grabbed me,” he continued. Gordon even joked that the entire process was “scary.”
Despite his own complications when it came to Oscar’s birth, the dad of five couldn’t have been more proud to witness the joy of childbirth. “It’s extraordinary,” he gushed, adding that their brood were also excited about their baby brother. “For the rest of the kids it’s just a welcome bundle of joy,” he added. “And boy, does that take you back.”
