Ben Affleck is an integral part of the Hollywood A-list.

Born in Berkley, California in 1972, and growing up in Massachusetts, he began his career in the entertainment industry from an early age, appearing in commercials. He got his first big break in the early 90’s when he was cast in ‘School ties’, with his good friend Matt Damon. He did a few more notable films in the 90’s like ‘Dazed and Confused’ and ‘Mallrats’, until he and Matt Damon got together for the project that catapulted both their careers to a new level: Good Will Hunting.

Earning them both an Oscar nomination for best screenplay, after Good Will Hunting was released, Ben acted in several significant films, including ‘Shakespeare in Love’ and ‘Pearl Harbour.’ He also began delving into directing, with his debut “Gone Baby Gone” earning a lot of positive praise from critics.

Ben Affleck’s Hollywood Career

His film career has now spanned over three very successful decades, for which he has won multiple awards for his contributions to the entertainment industry. Outside of his illustrious movie jobs, Affleck has also taken an interest in philanthropy, supporting multiple charities, and the exciting world of playing poker.

Ben has been an active poker player for many years, competing in several high-stakes tournaments, and even winning a few major ones, including the 2004 California State Poker Championship, in which he took home a huge cash prize of over $300,000. As well as regularly playing in tournaments, he has been known to enjoy spending time at casinos, and has been spotted playing around the world in prominent gambling venues, such as the famous Bellagio casino in Las Vegas.

It’s possible that his interest in poker had an influence on the 2005 ESPN show “Tilt’ which he co-produced. Tilt centred on a group of professional poker players as they competed in high-stakes tournaments. It’s no mystery as to why the world of poker and entertainment overlap so frequently, with both having strong similarities in their thrilling and unpredictable natures. Yet, before you recreate this Ben Affleck movie in real life, make sure to master variance in hand selection by reviewing poker hands in advance, as unpredictability can lead to consistent winnings in the long run.

Over the years of his career, and also his notable presence as a Hollywood bachelor, Ben has caught the eye of many of his colleagues in the industry, including some of his equally famous co-stars. How well do you know Ben Affleck’s dating history?

Gwyneth Paltrow

Although with the recent drama of Ben’s love life, this one may have faded to just be a distant memory, at the time these two were a strong power couple of the late 90’s.

The pair hit it off on set of the Academy award winning best picture ‘Shakespeare in Love’ in 1997. The film featured Gwyneth Paltrow as the lead character Viola, who becomes encapsulated with Shakespeare’s plays and writings as they are being performed, but unfortunately lives in a time where women are not permitted to be on stage – or really do anything for themselves.

Ben and Gwyneth dated very publicly on and off until they split in 2000. Talking about the reason they broke up, Gwyneth said he was “not in a good place in his life to have a girlfriend”.

Jennifer Lopez

Perhaps the most iconic relationship Ben Affleck has had, he and JLO were lovingly referred to by fans as ‘Bennifer’, and together they formed arguably the most celebrated and talked about ‘IT’ couple of the early 2000’s.

Meeting on the set of their movie ‘Gigli’ in 2002, their relationship progressed quickly, all while being closely followed by the public eye. They got engaged months after they got together, but sadly called off their much-anticipated wedding in 2004, breaking up shortly after the announcement.

To everyone’s surprise, the couple seemed to reunite in April 2021 after both coming out of relationships, and got married at a surprise Vegas wedding in 2022.

Jennifer Garner

In his longest public relationship to date, Ben and Jennifer Garner began dating in 2004, after meeting on the set of their movie ‘Daredevil’. Only a year after his wedding was meant to be with Jennifer Lopez, the couple got married in 2005, going on to have three children, Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel. After a decade together, they announced their separation in 2015, officially divorcing in 2018.

Ana de Armas

Ana de Armas has shot to fame, becoming one of the most in demand actors of our time. So it’s not surprising that she caught the attention of Ben Afflack in their 2020 film ‘Deep Water’.

As is common with Ben, their relationship was often captured by tabloids and online news sites, featuring photos of them looking happy on their various vacations. Their time together, although they seemed to enjoy it, came to an end in early 2021, just 10 months after it began. Although fans seemed to be sad at the time, as we now know, this made way for the return of ‘Bennifer’ which we couldn’t be more excited about.
