Britney Spears had a falling out with her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears. This happened during what Britney refers to as her “forced rehab stint” in 2019. She recalls her father threatening her with court embarrassment if she didn’t comply.
During her stay, Britney was prescribed lithium. She was held there against her will for several months. “I was trapped,” she says. “I couldn’t go outside or drive. I was forced to give blood every week.”
Her privacy was invaded. She wasn’t allowed to bathe alone or even close her room door.
In desperation, Britney reached out to her younger sister, Jamie Lynn, from the facility. She was seeking help, she writes. But Jamie Lynn’s response was far from supportive. “Stop fighting it,” she said. “There’s nothing you can do, so just accept it.”
Britney felt betrayed. She wrote, “I couldn’t understand how Jamie Lynn and our father had such a good relationship. She knew I needed her help…I felt she should’ve been on my side.”
In 2022, the sisters had a public disagreement over Jamie Lynn’s memoir, “Things I Should Have Said”. Britney felt her sister was exploiting her.
Jamie Lynn “published scandalous stories about me, many of which were hurtful and outrageous,” Britney states in her book. Despite this, she says she still loves her sister. She adds, “I’m trying to feel more compassion than anger toward her and everyone else who I feel has wronged me. It’s not easy though.”
E! News reached out to Jamie Lynn for her side of the story. She responded on E!’s Daily Pop in 2022, saying that she and Britney “have our disagreements, but at the end of the day, the love and support will always be there.”
