Early Life and Education

Cher Calvin was born on the 1st of August, 1974, in New York, USA. She was born to parents Roger Calvin and Delia Calvin. Roger was an actor while her mother was a psychiatrist. Delia died of cancer. There is no information on her family, siblings, friends, and early childhood. As of now, she is 47 years old.

As a child, she learned to speak English and Tagalog. She is of Filipino descent. Cher attended the Marymount School of New York in 1992. After graduating from college, Cher enrolled at  New York University. She graduated with Bachelor’s Degree in broadcast journalism. She also got a minor in political science from New York University.

Professional Life

From 1998 to 2003, Cher worked for GMA Network in Manila, Philippines. She worked there as a news anchor and features reporter. She was also a news anchor at CNN Asia affiliate. Cher also hosted the fashion magazine show F! on the Filipino television network ABS-CBN.

She worked as a news presenter for News Central on the Filipino television network Studio 23. Cher also worked as a news desk assistant editor for Time magazine in New York. she also anchored for  “Fox 5 News This Morning” at Las Vegas Fox affiliate KVVU-TV from 2003 to 2004.

Cher joined KTLA in Los Angeles in January 2005. After she joined KTLA, she began appearing on shows such as  “Access L.A.,” and “KTLA 5 Morning News”. While reporting for KTLA, she has won seven Emmy awards for news journalism, including five in a row (2012-2017). She has also won five Golden Mike awards. Cher anchors KTLA 5 news t 6, 6:30, 10, and 11 on weeknights.

Cher has also acted in movies like Hancock (2008), Chuck (2007), Criminal Minds (2005), and The Closer (2012). She also acted as a reporter for Netflix show Messiah.

Personal Life

Cher Calvin is a married woman. She is married to Aki Oshima. They first met each other in 2016 and fell in love. They got engaged on 19 December 2019. The wedding got postponed due to Covid-19. The couple then got married in Beverly Hills Hotel on August 8, 2021. They got married in the presence of their family and close friends.

The duo doesn’t have children together. Cher had some relationships in the past. Cher was in a serious relationship with a Swedish-American boyfriend. They also made a plan to get married but they parted ways. Cher is a Filipino-American and she frequently participates in activities promoting the welfare of the Filipino and Asian populations. Aki and Cher currently live in Los Angeles, California.
