All about her kids! Christie Brinkley is quite active on social media, and you can usually find her posting the best photos with her three children, Alexa Joel Ray, Jack Brinkley-Cook and Sailor Brinkley-Cook.
The iconic supermodel became a mom in 1985 when she and second husband Billy Joel welcomed daughter Alexa. The blonde beauty had her only son, Jack, in 1995, during her marriage to third spouse Richard Taubman. Christie’s youngest child, daughter Sailor, arrived in 1998 alongside fourth husband Peter Cook.
Sailor has followed the same career path as her mom, becoming a model and finding major success. However, the Dancing With the Stars alum once dished she’s always struggled with nerves and insecurity since her mother is so well-known.
“Anyone who does something that their parents did before them feels that pressure, but I always say someone can open a door for you but it’s you who has to keep it open and, at the end of the day, no one cares who your parents are,” she explained to Closer Weekly and other reporters. “No one cares who where you come from. It’s about the work that you put in and the attitude that you bring forward.”
“I grew up very insecure. I grew up very doubtful of myself in a lot of ways and I went into modeling,” she continued. “It’s the most challenging thing to take on as someone who is quite insecure. But, you know, you find your way in it, you find your groove in it and I ended up loving it.”
Through the years, Christie has also made sure to pass down some important advice to her children. “She’s mostly just told me to smile — that’s like her No. 1 advice, especially for confidence — to, you know, ‘smile and you’ll feel it.’ I honestly believe that too,” Sailor told Closer on a separate occasion.
“When I was younger, I’d be like, ‘No, that’s so stupid! Smiling doesn’t make you happy,’” Sailor added. “But if you just put a smile on your face and put your best foot forward, it’s easier. It’s easier to get through all of the bad stuff.”
