Rashod’s journey to stardom began when he was a true freshman at Minnesota, Bateman started at wide receiver and set freshman records for the Golden Gophers with 51 grabs, 704 receiving yards, and six touchdowns.

This was the beginning of Rashod’s ascent to greatness after receiving 57 passes for a sophomore record 1,170 yards and 11 touchdowns, Bateman was named a semi-finalist for the Fred Biletnikoff Award, first-team All-Big Ten, and the Richter-Howard Receiver of the Year.

Sports Illustrated, USA Today, and the Associated Press all selected Bateman for their second-team All-Americans, while they selected him for their third team.

Due to the Big Ten’s decision to abandon football during the COVID-19 epidemic, Bateman declared on August 4, 2020, that he will forego his 2020 season. The Big Ten would subsequently change its mind, and Bateman joined the squad once again for the abbreviated season.

Bateman made a comeback in the game over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he left with a foot injury in the second quarter. On November 3, 2022, it was revealed that Bateman would have foot surgery, terminating his season.
