Katia is the daughter of Denzel from his marriage to Pauletta Pearson, the second of four children – her younger siblings are twins. Washington started out behind the scenes of many film projects, working as an office organizer, a ‘phone manager and an administrator. Two years after graduating, she made her breakthrough in 2012’s “Django Unchained” directed by Quentin Tarantino, the western film featuring Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz and Leonardo DiCaprio, and a stylized tribute to the Italian film “Django”. The film was highly successful critically and commercially, gaining $425 million worldwide against a $100 million budget, then having five nominations during the 85th Academy Awards, including Best Picture for which Tarantino won, plus a BAFTA, and a Golden Globe. Waltz was also rewarded with several awards for his performance.
Her next film would come four years later – “Fences” – a period drama based on the Pulitzer Prize winning play of the same name, and starring her father Denzel who also directed the film, which received positive reviews while also grossing $64 million over a budget of $27 million. It was considered by the American Film Institute as one of the top ten films of 2016, and was also nominated for numerous awards including four Oscar nominations. Viola Davis who also starred in the film won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. During the same year, Katia also had a role in the film “The Birth of a Nation” which is another period drama.

For her personal life, not much is known about Katia’s romantic relationships. She has maintained privacy for most aspects of her life away from work, including any romance.
