After Debbie McCurdy passed away in 2013, her daughter was inspired to write the one-woman play “I’m Glad My Mom Died.”

The play began in February 2020, but because the coronavirus pandemic delayed live theater productions for more than a year, it was never able to complete its run.

McCurdy also acknowledged that she used alcohol on her own website for a while, but that wasn’t her only enemy. According to Elite Daily, she also admitted to having an eating condition.

McCurdy grew up in a modestly wealthy Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints family in Garden Grove, California. Debbie McCurdy homeschooled her and her three elder brothers.

McCurdy has admitted that her mother subjected her to mental and sexual abuse. My mom’s emotions were so unstable that it was like walking a tightrope every day, she revealed in an interview with People magazine. McCurdy claims that when she was six years old, her mother encouraged her to pursue acting because she wanted to be a performer and help financially support the family.

She explained how her mother introduced her to calorie tracking when she was 11 years old and how her mother was obsessed with making her a star. She further disclosed that her mother regularly performed vaginal and breast checks on her up until she was never allowed to take a shower alone.
