The museum is dedicated to her Father, who inspired the “Walking Tall” movie franchise.
Additionally, she maintained an active presence on social media, including a website and Facebook page, where she shared information about her Father’s legacy and law enforcement activities.
While many people may have been familiar with Dwana Pusser through her public appearances, getting to know her personally was a unique experience, according to Tina Mullis, the museum curator.
He described her as a spirited individual with a deep passion for her Father’s legacy, law enforcement, and her family.
Mullis added that Dwana had a solid attachment to her hometown and the community that supported her after her mother’s death and her Father’s passing.
Despite facing such complex challenges, Dwana remained grateful to the town of Adamsville for its support and never forgot the kindness it showed her.
How Dwana Pusser Family Shaped Her Legacy? A Closer Look
Dwana Pusser was born to parents Buford Pusser and Pauline Mullins.
Her Father served as the sheriff of McNairy County, Tennessee, from 1964 to 1970 and constable of Adamsville from 1970 to 1972.
Buford is widely known for his relentless Campaign against moonshining, prostitution, gambling, and other vices along the Mississippi-Tennessee state line.
Tragedy struck the Pusser family when Dwana’s mother, Pauline, was shot in the head twice during an attack by assailants in a car in 1967, as stated on the museum’s website.
Dwana was only 16 when her Father died in a car crash while returning home from the fair in 1973. A movie about his life titled “Walking Tall” was made before his death, and two sequels were released in the following years.
