Betty Gilpin, best known for her role as Debbie “Liberty Belle” Eagan in the Netflix show “GLOW,” is starring in a new show called “Mrs. Davis.” In her new show, she plays a nun, a stark contrast to her previous role as a wrestler. However, Gilpin is not opposed to getting back into the ring. She expressed interest in a “GLOW” reboot, stating, “Oh god, I would of course be down for a reboot.”
“GLOW” followed the story of a real-life women’s professional wrestling circuit called Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling in the 1980s. The show premiered on Netflix in 2017 and ran for three seasons. It was renewed for a fourth season in 2019, but unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was ultimately canceled. Co-star Alison Brie referred to the show’s cancellation as “the great heartbreak of my career.”
Despite the show’s cancellation, Gilpin remains close with her “GLOW” castmates. In fact, she brought some of them to the premiere of her new show on April 20. “I love those women so much,” Gilpin said of her co-stars, “I burst into tears when I saw them all.”
Although Gilpin admitted to having some reservations about returning to the physically demanding role of a wrestler, she expressed a willingness to suffer through the bruises and pain if a “GLOW” reboot were to happen. “It was a pain that felt like a smile,” Gilpin said of her experiences on “GLOW.” She believes her co-stars feel the same way and would be on board for a reboot if given the opportunity.
While fans wait for a potential “GLOW” reboot, they can catch Gilpin in “Mrs. Davis,” which is currently streaming on Peacock.
