Isaiah and Khalil have a deep friendship that could only be described as that of the best of friends and brothers anyone could ask for. On August 14, 2022, Isaiah and his family went kayaking on the Chattahoochee River to celebrate his MVP triumph in the Elite 24.

The entire family, including Khalil, was having a good time. Khalil went swimming with the others after everyone had sat down. Thompson claimed that a strong undercurrent drew his son, Hardison, underwater, causing him to drown.

Despite Khalil’s ability to swim, the police advised them that the river’s current was too strong for him to save himself. To remember their late son, the family devised the tagline “Live Like Khalil.”
