Jonathan Owens is standing his ground. The Green Bay Packers safety stirred the pot recently when he declared himself the “catch” in his marriage to Simone Biles. Despite the backlash, he’s not about to change his stance.
The 28-year-old, interestingly, claims he was clueless about the identity of the four-time Olympic gold medalist when they first connected. This happened on the exclusive dating app Raya in 2020.
Owens, in a chat with Vanity Fair, said, “A lot of folks find it hard to believe that I didn’t know who she was.” He added, “She doesn’t like admitting it, but she initiated the conversation.”
The couple tied the knot in April. Owens confessed he didn’t put two and two together until they swapped social media handles. His reaction? “I was like, wow, she’s got a ton of followers. She must be pretty good at what she does.”
Owens first raised eyebrows last December. He admitted his ignorance about the most decorated gymnast in history, saying he didn’t really “pay attention” to gymnastics.
In the early days of their relationship, Owens was hesitant to commit. But, things took a turn after they spent some time together. He said, “We hung out, and we hit it off instantly.”
