For the World under-18 Championships in Slovakia in2002, he was named the captain of Finland. He recorded four goals and five assists in seven games at the 2004 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, earning him a spot on the team’s all-star team. He was chosen to represent Finland at the 2010 Winter Olympics, where they defeated Slovakia to earn the bronze medal.
Moreover, he was added to the Finland team roster for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi on January 7, 2014. He led the 2022 Finnish Olympic gold medal team and the 2022 IIHF World Championship gold medal team as its captain.
