Mauricio’s debut on Dancing With the Stars was a sight to behold. Kyle, his biggest cheerleader, was right there in the ballroom, cheering him on. His dance partner, Emma Slater, was by his side as they performed a lively jive.
Kyle didn’t stop at just cheering. She took her support a notch higher. She even went as far as detailing how to vote for Mauricio on her Instagram Story. Talk about being a supportive spouse!
After the DWTS premiere, Mauricio decided to give a little update about their marriage. He spilled the beans on the Sept. 28 episode of The Agency’s Red Mic podcast. “We were dealing with our own things, kind of, super quietly and internally, just our own issues,” he confessed.
He was quick to clarify, though. “I mean, certainly, we’re not separated. We’re not divorced at this point. We are not any of that stuff. We’re still dealing with our marriage.” He was adamant about that.
Mauricio, now 53, reflected on their marriage. He expressed gratitude for the nearly three decades they’ve spent together without any major hiccups. “It’s been an amazing 26 years and it’s been a difficult one year,” he admitted. He added, “Kyle and I are blessed, where we actually had 26 years that we did not have a bad year, and I know most marriages have bad months, bad weeks, bad years.”
Rumors were swirling, though. Some folks suggested that Mauricio and Kyle had staged their separation for publicity. Mauricio was having none of it.
“I am not going to destroy my life to put a plant in the news so people can get more entertainment,” he declared. He insisted he’s “not that smart or that conniving.” Quite a statement, huh?
