Lee Corso is an American football examiner and sportscaster. Lee Corso is a featured analyst on ESPN’s College GameDay.

Early life

On August 7, 1935, Lake Mary aka Lee Corso was born in Florida, United States. Likewise, he is 86 years old. He was born to his father Irma Corsa, and his mother Alessandro Corso. With his parents, he moved to Miami when he was only 10. Later, he attended Miami Jackson Senior High School. In school, he played as a quarterback. Meanwhile, he chose to play at Florida State University. Besides, he was also a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Moreover, in 1957, Lee graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. And, later, a master’s degree in administration and supervision in 1958.

Career

After college, under his former FSU coach Tommy Nugent, Corso became the quarterback’s coach at Maryland. And, in 1962, Corso followed Nugent’s guidance in recruiting an academically. Additionally, an athletically qualified black player convinced Darryl Hill to transfer from the Naval Academy. Thus, it made him the first African-American football player in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Finally, he became the defensive backs coach at the Navy, in 1966. Besides, he was named head coach at Louisville where he coached his ESPN colleague Tom Jackson, in 1969.

Therefore, in 1970, after taking Louisville to only its second-ever bowl game. Thus, he was hired by Indiana in 1972. From 1973 to 1982, he coached at Indiana and led the Hoosiers to two winning seasons in 1979 and 1980. The 1979 season ended with a 7–4 record. Therefore, they later earned a trip to the 1979 Holiday Bowl. The victory of Indiana over the Cougars propelled the team to 16th in the UPI poll. Since 1967, the Hoosiers’ first top-20 ranking.

After his team scored a touchdown early in the second quarter and he was called a time out, in the 1976 season. In addition, it read: Indiana 7, Ohio State 6. In 5 years, it was the first time that the Hoosiers had led the Buckeyes in a football game. Meanwhile, his record was 41–68–2 over his ten years at Indiana. At Northern Illinois University, he was the 16th head football coach. In the season as Northern Illinois’s head coach, his record was 4–6–1.

More about career

Finally, Lee Corso made his professional debut as a coach for Orlando Renegades Football League (USFL) in 1985. it was slated to return in fall 1986, he was slated to return to the Renegades. Eventually, the league suspended operations before the season began, never to return again. In 1987, as an analyst for its Saturday College GameDay program, he was hired by ESPN. Besides, he often plays the role of comic foil to co-hosts Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, and Kirk Herbstreit. Thus, they cover the major college football games from August until January.

Similarly, he also calls nearly everyone “sweetheart.” On October 5, 1996, it started prior to the Ohio State-Penn State game at Columbus, Ohio. During that time, he got the idea to don the OSU “Brutus Buckey.” Moving on, he made his 250th headgear pick, TCU’s Super Frog, before the TCU-WVU game, on November 1, 2014.

In a 2006 Nike, he makes a brief cameo commercial featuring the fictional Briscoe High School football team. It was portrayed by Michael Vick, Troy Polamalu, LaDainian Tomlinson, Brian Urlacher, and others. Annually, he appeared in EA Sports’ NCAA Football titles along with Herbstreit. Thus, it was play-by-play man Brad Nessler until NCAA Football 11. Similarly, his mascot headgear prediction, in the 2006 edition of the game begins with him. 

Personal life

In 1956, Lee Corso married Betsy Youngblood and is together since then. Therefore, he has kept his personal life private and his wife has been out of media attention.
