Meagan Good is reflecting on her divorce from DeVon Franklin, more than a year after the former couple announced their split. In December 2022, the pair announced that they had decided to go their separate ways after almost a decade of marriage. In a joint statement to People, they said that there was no one at fault and that they believed their separation was the next best chapter in the evolution of their love. They also expressed gratitude for the life-changing years they had spent together as husband and wife.

In a recent interview with Essence magazine, Good opened up about the emotional toll of her divorce. She revealed that she had not chosen to end her marriage and had been devastated when she realised that it was happening. She also acknowledged that her divorce from Franklin had been a “rough” experience, though there was no malice on either side.

Good, who is best known for her roles in “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” and “Harlem,” went on to say that she had no regrets about either marrying or divorcing Franklin. She called their shared journey “beautiful” and expressed excitement about starting her life anew.

Good and Franklin first met on the set of 2011’s “Jumping the Broom” and were married a year later. Their last red carpet appearance together was at the 2019 BET Awards. Since announcing their split, Good has made a few small references to their divorce in interviews. In January, she talked on “The View” about embracing the unknown and being excited for what is next.

Looking back on their relationship, Good said that she was grateful for the time they had spent together and the journey that they had shared. She acknowledged that each person has free will and that divorce was not something that God had intended, but she had come to terms with the fact that she and Franklin were not meant to be together forever.

In the end, Good said that she was excited about starting her life over again and having a second chance at whatever comes next. She expressed gratitude for the experiences and lessons that her marriage had brought her and looked forward to whatever the future holds.
