Previously, Pam Grier started working as a receptionist at American International Pictures (AIP). In 1970, she debuted with a brief role in the movie ‘Beyond the Valley of the Dolls’.

She played roles in women in prison films: ‘The Big Doll House and ‘The Big Bird Cage. In 1973, she was seen in ‘Black Mama White Mama’ and ‘Scream Blacula Scream’. Moving on, she began her journey of blaxploitation movies in the 1970s with Jack Hill’s ‘Coffy’ in 1973.

She was offered more movies like ‘Foxy Brown’, ‘Sheba, Baby’, and ‘Friday Foster’. After completing the role in Blaxploitation, she did smaller roles in ‘Drum’, ‘Greased Lightning’, and ‘Twilight of Love’.

Then, she played her breakthrough role in mainstream blockbusters ‘Fort Apache, The Bronx in 1981. In 1983, she landed for a role in ‘Something Wicked This Way Comes’ in 1983. Therefore, she was starred in Tough Enough’ (1983), ‘The Vindicator’ (1984), Stand Alone (1985), and ‘Badge of the Assassin’ (1985). From 1985-1990, she had a recurring role in the TV series ‘Miami Vice’.

Similarly, she was seen in ‘Crime Story’ from 1986 to 1988.  She landed in the role of Steven Seagal’s detective partner in ‘Above the Law’ (1988). In 1990 she was seen in Grier acted in ‘The Package’ (1989), ‘Class of 1999’ (1990), ‘Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey’ (1991), and ‘Posse’ (1993).

Likewise, she made guest appearances in ‘Martin’, ‘Night Series’ and ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel Air’. In 1996, she landed in films like ‘Mars Attack’, and the action-gangster film ‘Original Gangstas’.

Thus, she had the biggest role of her career in 1997 in the crime thriller film ‘Jackie Brown’. In 1999, she was seen in the comedy series ‘Linc’s’ (1999) and ‘3 A.M’ in 2000, and gave a power-packed performance.

In, 2000, she was part of the animated program ‘Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child’. Moreover, she gave an impactful performance in the motion picture ‘Bones’ in 2001.

In the series Law & Order: Social Victims Unit, she played asst. US Attorney Claudia Williams. From 2004-2009, she had a recurring role in the TV series ‘The L Word’.

Hence, in 2008 and 2010, she appeared in the film ‘Ladies of the House and 3 episodes of ‘Smallville’, respectively. In 2012, she acted in the martial arts film ‘The Man with the Iron Fists. Later on, she landed on the television film ‘Cleveland Abduction’ in 2015.
