Morgan underwent surgery at 7 a.m. on Thursday, following clearance for the transplant around 5 a.m.
Tammy mentioned that Morgan was both excited and nervous during the procedure. Surgeons kept giving her updates every few hours during an almost 12-hour surgery.
Tammy hoped for Morgan’s long and happy life after the successful transplant; nevertheless, it did not go as planned.
She would be placed on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation to give Morgan’s heart and lungs some rest on Thursday night.
