Petr Yan is a Russian professional mixed martial artist who currently competes in the Bantamweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is a former UFC Bantamweight Champion. Previously, he fought in Absolute Championship Berkut where he is a former ACB Bantamweight Champion. In 2013, Yan made a spectacular MMA debut, when he knocked out his opponent, Murad Bakiev, in the third round. He made his UFC debut in 2018. As of 12th April 2022, he is #1 in the UFC bantamweight rankings. As of 13th September 2022, he is #13 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings.

Petr Yan took birth on 11th February 1993 with the full name of Petr Evgenyevich Yan. He is from Dudinka, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia. He is Russian by nationality and his ethnicity is Mixed as he was born to a father of mixed Chinese-Georgian descent and a Russian mother. His present age is 29 as of 2022. Petr Yan, in his sixth grade, began training in ITF Taekwon-do and often fought in the streets and at the school in his area, so his family often moved to try and prevent this. • He signed a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship in January 2018.
• He made his promotional debut against Teruto Ishihara on 23 June 2018 at UFC Fight Night 132 which he won. 
• He won his next fight against Jin Soo Son via unanimous decision. 
• After that, he faced Douglas Silva de Andrade for UFC 232 on 29 December 2018 which he won via technical knockout.

• He faced former WEC and UFC Featherweight Champion José Aldo for the vacant title on 12 July 2020 at UFC 251 which he won. 
• On 6 March 2021 at UFC 259, he faced Aljamain Sterling which he lost by disqualification in the fourth round due to an illegal knee, losing the UFC Bantamweight Championship.
• His next fight was against Cory Sandhagen which he won via unanimous decision. 
• On 9th April 2022 at UFC 273, he rematched with Aljamain Sterling which Petr lost via a split decision. 
• He faced Sean O’Malley on 22nd October 2022 at UFC 280. He lost the bout via a controversial split decision. 26 out of 26 media scores gave it to Yan.
