The rapper from New Orleans, whose real name is Michael Tyler, was taken to the Ascension Parish Jail on Sunday afternoon, July 31, after being arrested and detained on numerous felony charges, including first-degree abuse, domestic violence battery, strangulation, and robbery.

Along with the felonies, the 51-year-old is accused of two misdemeanors: false imprisonment and criminal mischief to property less than $1,000. According to reports, all five offenses occurred on Sunday at 9:21.

He received a six-year prison sentence after confessing to sexual battery in 2004. The rapper and his two bodyguards allegedly forced his hairstylist to engage in immoral behavior in exchange for her silence regarding the cashing of phony checks totaling $80,000 from his bank account.

Mystikal was jailed again in 2012 on charges of domestic violence against his partner for violating the terms of his probation after being released in 2010 and registering as an offender in Louisiana.

He turned himself in notice after discovering that an arrest warrant had been issued for him about an alleged assault at a casino in Shreveport, Louisiana, and was held once more in 2017. After the 2017 accusations were eventually dismissed, Mystikal was granted a $3 million bond and allowed to leave jail.
