Shiv Nadar wаѕ bоrn 14 July 1945 in Moolaipozhi, Madras Presidency, British India (now Madras State, Tamil Nadu). Shiv Nadar was 76 years old.
Shiv attended several schools throughout his school years. He went to Town Higher Secondary School Kumbakonam and he went to Elango Corporation Higher Secondary School in Madurai. He has also attended the Town High School from June 1955 to 1957 and then Shiv went to St. Joseph Boys Higher Secondary School, Trichy and he completed his high school education.
Shiv received a pre-university degree from the American College, Madurai, and then went to PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore to complete his graduation in Electrical and Electronics engineering.
Shiv start his career at Walchand group’s Cooper Engineering Ltd. in Pune in 1967. Shiv soon gave it up to begin his venture, in partnerships with several friends and colleagues. Shiv’s partners were Ajai Chowdhry (Ex-Chairman, HCL), Arjun Malhotra (CEO and chairman, Headstrong), Subhash Arora, Yogesh Vaidya, S. Raman, Mahendra Pratap, and DS Puri.
Shiv ventured HCL into the international market in 1980 with the opening of Far East Computers in Singapore to sell IT hardware. The venture reported Rs 1 million in revenue in the first year and continued to address the Singapore operations. Shiv remained the largest shareholder without retaining any management control.
Shiv Nadar received the Padma Bhushan by the President of India for his remarkable work in the field of trade, education, and industrial development in 2008.
