Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, just one week after getting legally married at a courthouse in Houston. The couple exchanged handwritten vows in front of around 140 guests, with the décor being gold and white. Biles wore four different dresses throughout the day, with the final one being a Galia Lahav dress which she had always dreamed of wearing. The Olympic gymnast shared snippets from her rehearsal dinner and wedding morning on Instagram Stories, including a snap of her father’s “I loved her first” T-shirt.
In an exclusive interview with Vogue, Biles revealed her passion for the Galia Lahav dress, explaining that once she started looking for wedding dresses, she knew it had to be from that designer, and once she saw the dresses, she knew they were her style. Speaking about her vision for the wedding, Biles said that her only other requirements were for there to be plenty of flowers and pearls, which were incorporated into the ceremony.
Biles and Owens first met on the Raya dating app in 2020, and Owens proposed in February 2022. The couple had hit it off straightaway, and Biles excitedly announced their engagement on Instagram, saying that Owens was “everything I dreamed of and more”. The couple’s wedding weekend coincided with Cinco de Mayo, which Biles said was a “happy accident” and added to the fun of their celebrations.
