He is arguably the greatest quarterback to ever play the game of football, and she is one of the most famous models on the planet, but there is much more to know about Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen. The former New England Patriot and the Brazilian businesswoman are also the fantastic parents of their three children: Ben, Vivi and Jack.
Gisele and the Super Bowl winner tied the knot in February 2009 and quickly started their family when the brunette beauty gave birth to Ben later that year. The lovebirds welcomed their daughter, Vivi, in 2012, and Tom is also the dad of his eldest son, Jack, whom he shares with ex Bridget Moynahan.
Gisele, who was dating Tom for just a few months when Bridget announced she was pregnant with the former couple’s child, has embraced her role as the loving stepmom of Jack. The beloved supermodel even sweetly refers to him as her “bonus child.”
In her 2018 book titled Lessons: My Path To A Meaningful Life, Gisele candidly opened up about how Bridget’s pregnancy really affected her. “Two months into our relationship, Tom told me his ex-girlfriend was pregnant,” she detailed in the book. “The very next day the news was everywhere, and I felt my world had been turned upside down.”
While Gisele was hurt, she ultimately stayed with the NFL star. However, she has no regrets because she considers her role as a stepmom to be a huge blessing. “[Jack helped my] heart expand in ways I didn’t know was possible,” the Devil Wears Prada actress gushed in her book.
Gisele explained that although it “wasn’t an easy time” for the duo, she’s grateful she stuck around because it encouraged the couple to have Ben and Vivi so all the kids could be close in age.
Since creating their beautiful blended family, Gisele and Tom are having the best time raising their children. A source told Closer that the adorable pair couldn’t be happier with “the perfect life” they’ve built together. “Tom and Gisele are truly more in love than ever,” the insider shared in January 2019. “They are such a strong family unit and feel like they are best friends, partners and each other’s biggest support systems.”
After 22 seasons in the NFL and seven Super Bowl victories, Tom announced his retirement from the sport on social media. The decision came after he opened up on his podcast in January 2022 about wanting to spend more time with his family and “give them what they need.”
“This is difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore,” he wrote in the emotional post on February 1. “I have loved my NFL career, and now it is time to focus my time and energy on other things that require my attention.”
In March 2022, Tom announced he was returning to the NFL. He resumed his duties as the quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2022-2023 season.
“These past two months I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it’s not now,” he wrote on social media at the time. “I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. They make it all possible. I’m coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. Unfinished business LFG.”
