When Tony Blackburn failed to appear on his BBC Radio 2 program today, his fans became concerned. The 80-year-old typically telecasts Sounds of the 60s on Saturdays from 6 to 8 am.
But Tony, a former I’m a Celebrity campmate, revealed on March 10th that he would be skipping the show because of illness.
He announced on Twitter that he wouldn’t be presenting any of his shows this weekend because of a virus that was taking a long time to recover.
The host added, “Tomorrow on Sounds Of The Sixties you can hear my special “Happy Birthday show,” and on March 12th, Sunday, there will be a recorded Golden Hour. Enjoy your weekend.”
As fans rushed to offer their best wishes, one wrote: “Tony is working too hard! Be careful and recover quickly.”
“Get well soon, Tony; you’re a special part of our lives,” said another.
Nonetheless, we hope the presenter will recover soon from the virus and come back to our TV screens to entertain everyone with his charm.

The English disc jockey was welcomed into this world by his dad, Kenneth Fleming Blackburn, and his mom, Pauline Cubitt (nee Stone) in Guildford, Surrey.
While his father was a GP, his mother, on the other hand, was a nurse. His family moved to Poole, Dorset, and there his little sister, Jacqueline was born.
Sadly, his younger sibling was born suffering from polio and she was not able to walk or stand since birth.
Additionally, Tony was interested in music from a young age and learned to play the guitar and drums. In his late teens, he began playing in local bands and performing at clubs and dance halls.
Talking about his love life, Blackburn has been married twice. His first marriage, to actress Tessa Wyatt, ended in divorce after 4 years. The former pair shared a son, Simon, who was born on April 8th, 1973.
He later married Debbie, his long-term partner, in June 1992. Tony Blackburn’s wife is a theatrical agent.
