  • He started playing football for the youth team of Coton Sport in 2006 and began his career at the club. During his 2009-10 season, he made 15 appearances for the club, scoring 7 goals in all the competitions as Coton Sport won the Cameroon Premiere Division that season. 
  • On 26 May 2010, he signed with Valenciennes in France where he was assigned the number 9 shirt. He made his debut for the club on 7 August 2010 in a 0-0 draw against OGC Nice. On 26 October 2010, he scored his first goal for the club, scoring a hat-trick in a 4-0 win against US Boulogne in the round of 16 of Coupe de la Ligue. In his first season, he made 20 appearances for the club, scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist in all the competitions.
  • During his 2011-12 season, he made 31 appearances for the club, scoring 8 goals and providing 6 assists in all the competitions.

  • On 1 July 2013, he signed for Lorient on a free transfer. He made his debut for the club on 10 August 2013 in a 1-0 loss against LOSC Lille. On 18 August 2013, he scored his first goal for the club in a 2-1 win against FC Nantes. During his 2013-14, he made 37 appearances for the club, scoring 16 goals and providing 10 assists in all the competitions as he joined second top scorer over the season with 16 league goals from 35 appearances.
  • On 24 August 2014, he signed for Porto on a four-year contract for a fee of €3 million, equivalent to 30% of his economic rights. He made his debut for the club on 14 September 2014 in a 1-1 draw against Vitoria Guimaraes SC. On 17 September 2014, he scored his first goal for the club in a 6-0 win against BATE Borisov in the UEFA Champions League group stage. In his first season, he made 20 appearances for the club, scoring 8 goals and providing 4 assists in all the competitions as Porto finished runners-up to S.L. Benfica. 
  • During his 2015-16 season, following the sale of Martinez, he played much more regularly. During that season, he made 42 appearances for the club, scoring 18 goals and providing 3 assists in all the competitions.
  • On 27 August 2016, he was loaned to Super Lig reigning champions Besiktas on a season-long loan. He made his debut for the club on 10 September 2016 in a 3-1 home win over Kardemir Karabukspor. He did not score until his eighth match, in which he contributed two goals to a 3–2 Champions League win at Napoli on 19 October 2016 that was his club’s first win in the competition since November 2009. On 23 October 2016, he scored his first league goal for the club in a 3-0 win over Antalyaspor at Vodafone Park. During his loan spell at Besiktas, he made 38 appearances for the club, scoring 19 goals and providing 4 assists in all the competitions as Besiktas retained their league title.
  • On 20 August 2017, he scored his first hat-trick for Porto in a 3-0 home win over Moreirense FC. On 10 December 2017, he scored another hat-trick in a 5-0 win at Vitoria F.C. that put Porto back on top of the table. During his 2017-18 season, he made 43 appearances for the club, scoring 26 goals and providing 10 assists in all the competitions as Porto won the Primeira Liga that season. 
  • In September 2018, he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury against C.D. Tondela. He underwent surgery, causing a long-term absence. On 4 May 2019, he made his comeback as a late substitute for Marega in a 4-0 home win over C.D Aves. During his 2018-19 season, he made 11 appearances for the club, scoring 4 goals and providing 3 assists in all the competitions as Porto won the Supertaca Candido de Oliveira that season. 
  • During his 2019-20 season, he made 10 appearances for the club, scoring 2 goals in all the competitions as Porto won the Primeira Liga and Taca de Portugal that season. 
  • After terminating his contract with Porto, on 25 September 2020, he returned to Besiktas where he signed a contract until 31 May 2021. During his 2020-21 season, he made 29 appearances for the club, scoring 16 goals and providing 5 assists in all the competitions as Besiktas won the league title and Turkish Cup that season. 
  • On 8 June 2021, he signed with Saudi Professional League club Al Nassr on a three-year deal where his salary was set at €6 million per year. On 14 September 2021, he scored on his debut for the club in a 1-0 win over Tractor in the round of 16 of the AFC Champions League.
