Karen Jarrett Age, Early Life, Family, and Education Background
She was born as Karen Smedley on 12 October 1972. in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, USA under the Libra Zodiac. This makes her 47 years old October 2019. She is popularly known as Karen Angle, is an American by nationality and belongs to white ethnicity. She has not disclosed any news regarding her family, including whether she has any siblings. In 2001 when Karen’s then husband Kurt Angle was in the World Wrestling Entertainment contract, she did not have anything to do with his contract. However, she made an appearance during Unforgiven 2001 celebrating his win against Stone Cold, together with the entire Angle family, as Kurt had just won the WWF Championship. In the summer of 2007, Karen was introduced to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. She also made an appearance at the Family Wrestling Entertainment’s Grand Prix with her family, and was branded the Commissioner.
Although Karen left the wrestling industry, she went back to Impact Wrestling and became the executive consultant of Anthem Sports & Entertainment; Jeremy Borash welcomed her with open hands, and Karen arrange the late night match between Sutter and KM. Using her role, Karen took advantage of her divorce from Kurt and marriage to her second husband, Jeff Jarrett in fueling their dispute, being deeply involved in this feud for months on end. She went ahead to make her in-ring debut at Sacrifice by joining hands with her husband in order to help defeat Kurt and Chyna.
On 1 September 2011, Karen was crowned the next Vice President of the Knockouts Division, which came as a shock to Traci Brooks who was a previous one-time Knockout Lawyer vying for the same position. Traci was hired by Karen to work as her assistant, but she ended up being verbally abused by Karen who wanted to display her villainous authority figure. Karen was verbally abusive towards her assistant for almost all the knockouts most specially Velvet Sky apart from Madison Rayne who was obsequious towards Karen. Once Velvet managed to win the Bound For Glory Knockouts Championship, Karen went ahead to enlist the returning Gail Kim with the sole intention of taking Velvet down, which she achieved at Turning Point. On 15 December 2011, both Jeff and Karen were laid off by Sting.
They both went back to TNA on 24 June 2015 during a live episode of Impact Wrestling as babyfaces. Karen viewed this chance as her debut run as an heroic person in seven years. However, two months later, she went back to her villainous character when she confessed that she had orchestrated attacks carried out on Bully Ray, the General Manager, and Drew Galloway. This left her husband, the owner of Global Force Wrestling, in charge. Due to her actions, Drew lost the King of the Mountain Championship match, a win that was taken by GFW’s PJ Black. In her defense, Karen said that she did all this for her husband and GFW, quoting ‘it takes one spark to start an inferno’. Jeff went ahead to attack Drew Galloway and even bought out his GFW roster to ensure Drew as well as other TNA stars were taken out.
Personal Life, Marriage, Husband, and Children
Regarding her personal life, Karen has married twice. Her first husband was Kurt Angle, a professional wrestler whom she dated for a year before tying the knot on 19 December 1998; Kurt is an Olympic gold medalist. They were married for nine years before Karen filed for divorce which was finalized on 26 October 2008 – the cause for divorce was due to personal issues which included emotional attacks from Kurt. He was also said to be having a problem with alcohol and prescription drugs. The two have two children – Kyra who was born on 2 December 2002 and Kody their son, who was born on 26 October 2006.
In 2009 Karen started dating Jeff Jarrett, the GFW founder as well as a TNA co-founder, and after a year they got engaged, and four months later married on 21 August 2010. Jeff is also a wrestler, from Hendersonville, Tennessee. Jeff’s first wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in the late 1990s and succumbed to the illness in 2007. The couple has been married for over eight years now, but don’t have any children, however, Karen is the step-mother of Jeff’s three daughters.
