Activism and The Life Project
In 2016, Sam teamed up with Colby to create the organization The Life Project, which offers podcasts and videos meant to teach teenagers and young youths essential life skills that aren’t usually taught in school. In an interview with Tubefilter, Golbach disclosed the main reason why they launched the program, stating that their mission is to help people struggling with depression, adding ‘We felt lost a lot of the time, and most of what we do is a helping hand. We just talk to them and get them through their problems. We always thought, that if only we had that big brother to tell us what to do, we’d be so much more ahead in life. Now, since we never had that, we want to be that to our fans.’ The Life Project is a community center, which allows its members to connect and share their thoughts through other social media platforms. Their podcasts and videos have been featured by several news agencies, such as “The Huffington Post” and “BBC.”

Controversies
Sam and Colby have been criticized on social media for posting offensive and disruptive content. While videos such as “Following Fat People” resulted in protests from some of their fans, disruptive pranks such as placing a seat inside an elevator at Oak Park Mall saw them banned from the establishment. In November 2015, the YouTuber and prankster Sam Pepper, pranked Golbach by ‘kidnapping’ him and ‘shooting him on the head,’ which received a lot of scrutiny from the media because of spreading negative imagery. Currently, Sam and Colby aim at documenting the good aspects of life instead of mischief and pranks, and have adopted the team motto ‘Onward and Upward,’ which were Golbach’s grandmother’s final words.
