Zac Dalpe (born November 1, 1989) is a Canadian professional ice hockey center who currently plays for the Florida Panthers in the NHL. He was drafted 45th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2008, after previously playing in the British Columbia Hockey League and the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.

Zac Dalpe grew up playing minor hockey for the Paris Wolfpack of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association’s Southern Counties League in his birthplace of Paris, Ontario. He eventually played in Western Ontario’s Pavilion League for the Brantford 99’ers AAA club. Dalpe played for the 99’ers in AAA Minor Midget in 2004-05.

Dalpe, who was listed as 5’5″ and 115 pounds in his OHL draft year, went undrafted in the 2005 OHL Priority Selection and returned to play AAA Major Midget in 2005-06.

Dalpe joined with the Stratford Cullitons Junior B club of the Midwestern Ontario Hockey League for the 2006-07 season after playing Major Midget. He moved to Western Canada the next year, signing with the British Columbia Hockey League’s Penticton Vees Junior A team in 2007-08.

Dalpe was picked by the Plymouth Whalers in the second round (26th overall) of the 2008 OHL Priority Draft following that season. In the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, he was chosen by the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round (45th overall).

Dalpe did not play that season for either Plymouth or Carolina (Hurricanes/River Rats/Checkers). Instead, he elected to attend Ohio State University on an NCAA scholarship for the 2008-09 season. He played two seasons for the Buckeyes before making the move to professional hockey.

Dalpe made his NHL debut on October 7, 2010, after impressing the Hurricanes throughout training camp and making it through numerous rounds of cuts. Zac recorded his first NHL point with an assist in the game.On January 1, 2011, he scored his first NHL goal against Johan Hedberg of the New Jersey Devils. Dalpe and Jeremy Welsh were traded to the Vancouver Canucks prior to the start of the 2013-14 season in exchange for Kell Tochkin and a fourth-round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Dalpe signed a one-year free agent contract with the Buffalo Sabres on July 13, 2014.

He was not extended a qualifying offer by the Sabres and signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Minnesota Wild on July 1, 2015.On April 9, 2016, he scored his first goal for the Wild as their lone goal against Niklas Backstrom of the Calgary Flames.

Dalpe made the Wild’s opening night roster in 2016-17, participating in 9 games for 3 points before suffering a knee injury that necessitated surgery against the Dallas Stars on October 30, 2016. Zac was demoted to AHL club Iowa Wild after regaining his health before suffering a second knee ailment. He was placed on waivers on February 27, 2017, and was acquired by the Columbus Blue Jackets.He was promptly reassigned to the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters, the Jackets’ affiliate.

He was re-signed to a two-year, two-way contract extension by the Blue Jackets on June 9, 2017.Dalpe began the 2017-18 season on the Blue Jackets’ NHL roster before being sent back to the Monsters after 12 games.

Dalpe earned a two-year, two-way contract extension with the Blue Jackets on February 27, 2019, while leading the Cleveland Monsters in goals and points during the 2018-19 season.

He left the Blue Jackets organization as a free agent on July 30, 2021, and signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Florida Panthers, returning to play with affiliate and previous AHL team, the Charlotte Checkers.
