Oasis are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut album Definitely Maybe with a new limited edition – but many fans aren’t happy with the news.

Available on 30 August 2024, Definitely Maybe (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) formats feature tracks from the discarded original recording session along with outtakes from the album recorded at Sawmills Studios in Cornwall.

The album also includes an unreleased demo version of Sad Song. Originally released as a bonus track on the LP, this alternative version features Liam Gallagher’s vocals.

On release in 1994, Definitely Maybe reached number one on the Official UK Album Charts and became the fastest selling debut album of all time, at the time.

Oasis sent fans into a frenzy on Monday after they shared a cryptic post on social media that sparked speculation they were getting back together.

The band’s official social media accounts posted a sixteen-second long clip that begins as a black screen and slowly fades into a bird’s eye view of what looks like a house next to a river, with some muted music in the background.

But many fans were left disappointed that the news was actually a re-release of the group’s debut album and not a reunion.

Commenting on the announcement on Instagram, users wrote: ‘Heartbroken again, still a cracking album but a tour would have been nice.’

‘I already have a bazillion copies of Definitely Maybe’… ‘Soooooo no tour?’… ‘Heard it all before’… ‘What a let down’.

Others added: ‘I don’t think we need any more of these guys. A gig would be lovely like’… ‘Please do a reunion tour. Everybody wants it’.

The Manchester group, made up of Liam and Noel Gallagher, sensationally split in 2009 after a backstage bust-up between the warring brothers.

In the 14 years that have followed, the pair have traded bitter insults back and forth in interviews and over social media, with a reunion looking very unlikely.

Before the announcement of the album, excited fans predicted a reunion as they penned: ‘They’re back together?!’

‘Please tell me it’s happening’… ‘Stop playing with our feelings’….’Don’t do that. Don’t give me hope’.

‘What does this MEAN?’ … ‘Come on, don’t play with my feelings’.

Some fans guessed that the strange post could be hinting towards an anniversary tour, a reissue of old songs, or a rare demos session release.

Someone predicted: ‘What’s The Story Morning Glory 30th anniversary tour happening 2025’.

‘Definitely Maybe promo tour?’… ‘Some deluxe Definitely Maybe reissue. Maybe the original mixes from the first two recording sessions of the album’.

‘Rare Demos session is coming’… ‘Definitely Maybe reissue, this would have blown if it was anything else’.

The captionless post was bizarrely cryptic and eager music lovers have been trying to decipher what it means since it was shared on Monday

Meanwhile, on X other fans of the rock band frantically wrote: ‘What does this mean lads come on’ and ‘Don’t tease me!’

‘Monnow Valley Studio.. Definitely Maybe 30-year re-release.. 1994>2024’… ‘Monnow Valley sessions finally being released’.

‘Calm down they’re probably just releasing the demos of Definitely Maybe’.

Some music buffs guessed that the video could be laying the foundations for a 30-year reunion later this year.

To back up the theory, others are pointing out that the estate in the video could be Monnow Valley Studio, a world-famous remote studio in Monmouthshire where the band have previously recorded music.

After the cryptic video, fans of the rock band frantically wrote: 'What does this mean lads come on' and 'Don't tease me!'

The cryptic post cam eafter Noel, 54, revealed he was utterly blown away by the quality of the Abba Voyage show in London, which uses avatars of the band.

And when asked about the possibility of an Oasis hologram show while speaking to Matt Morgan for his latest podcast he said yes.

Noel told the show: ‘I was very impressed by it to be honest but yeah, if anybody wants to do an Oasis one, give us a shout. I would be bang up for it.

‘Id say ‘great’, speak to that guy over there and then come up with a figure and then he’ll relay it to me and I’ll say either yes or no.’

His surprising comment comes just weeks after his brother Liam shut down any speculation that Oasis could be set to reunite, after rumours swirled that the group were planning to get back together.

The singer, who appeared on the Jonathan Ross Show in March, and was quick to insist he hasn’t spoken to his brother Noel ‘for 10 years.’

Quizzed by Jonathan on the age-old rumours, Liam quickly said: ‘I haven’t spoken to him for about 10 years, 2009 I think.’
