Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are ready to defy expectations in the new trailer for the movie adaptation of Wicked.

On Wednesday, Universal Pictures released the first full promo for the initial installment of the two-part film version. Jon M. Chu‘s film, which stars Grande as Glinda and Erivo as Elphaba, hits theaters Nov. 27.

Wicked’s teaser trailer aired during Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11 and provided the first look at the movie that adapts the Tony-winning Broadway musical of the same name, which is itself based on author Gregory Maguire’s 1995 book, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. The project adapts characters that originated in L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and were brought to life in the Oscar-winning 1939 film musical The Wizard of Oz starring Judy Garland as Dorothy.

The Wicked film follows green-skinned Elphaba and her interaction with Glinda prior to Dorothy’s arrival in the Land of Oz. In the initial trailer, Glinda tells Elphaba, “Don’t be afraid,” to which Elphaba responds, “I’m not afraid. It’s the Wizard who should be afraid of me.”

Marc Platt and David Stone produce the movie. Castmembers include Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Jeff Goldblum and Bowen Yang.

An extensive amount of Wicked footage was shared to attendees last month at CinemaCon, where Chu and Grande were both moved to tears during the presentation.

“We dreamed very, very, very big for Wicked,” the director told the crowd at the event in Las Vegas. “A magical land of sights and sounds that will astonish, and performances that will lift your spirits and occasionally break your heart.”
