NFL star Rashee Rice has opted to protect himself following allegations that he was involved in a car crash on Saturday. The Kansas City Chiefs player is wanted by police for questioning over a major car crash in northeast Dallas at 6.20pm on Saturday, which resulted in four people suffering injuries.

The incident occurred when two cars, a Lamborghini and a Corvette, were believed to have collided after racing each other on the far left lane of the road, a police spokesperson said.

The Lamborghini then crashed into the median wall before ploughing into other cars. It has not been confirmed yet if Rice was driving one of the vehicles, but a vehicle either belonging to him or leased to the Chiefs wide receiver’s vehicle was involved in the collision.

Four people were left with minor injuries and two were taken to hospital for treatment, but there were no life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. Still, police are keen to speak with Rice to ascertain whether he was driving or not – although they suspect he was allegedly driving the Corvette.

Images released by TMZ at the incident did not appear to capture Rice, while dash cam footage of the crash was also released on Sunday and remained inconclusive.

Rashee Rice decides to hire an attorney

It is still unclear if Rice has been taken into police custody or spoke with law enforcement, but CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson reported that Rice has now secured legal representation.

While taking up counsel does not imply guilt or even suggest that Rice was involved in the incident, police are looking to speak to him, and so it would be necessary for the 23-year-old to have legal representation if he attends a police interview.

Anderson also reports that a statement on the incident is due to arrive in the near future, but did not mention which organization or person would be giving the statement.

It comes after a woman accused the five men involved in the crash of leaving the scene without checking on her or her four-year-old son following the crash.

Kayla Quinn, 27, one of the unfortunate victims in the crash, claims five men, who have not been identified, allegedly left the scene after pulling each other from the wrecked cars – but didn’t bother to check on the other people involved.

“No one stopped. We had children, like, we had kids, you know what I’m saying?” Quinn said to the DMN. “It’s the fact that there was no sympathy shown to where y’all can even have the decency to stop and check to make sure someone’s OK, someone’s alive, you know?”
