Traffic has been brought to a complete standstill on the A1M between Leeds and Knaresborough following an accident.

Long queues are building in the northbound direction of the motorway between J64 B1224 for Sandbeck Approach and J47 A59 for Allerton Park due to a crash.

Traffic was brought to a complete standstill at 10.25am this morning. Images from motorway cameras are showing cars queueing from bumper to bumper.

The circumstances of the collision are currently unknown and it is also unclear when the road will reopen. Yorkshire Live has contacted North Yorkshire Police for further information.

Our travel partner, Inrix, reports: “All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident on A1(M) Northbound from J46 B1224 Sandbeck Approach (Wetherby) to J47 A59 (Allerton Park).Traffic was held around 10:25am.”
