Aaron Rodgers has always been a savvy guy when it comes to talking about the NFL, he has racked up knowledge and experience throughout the years. But not only that, the New York Jets‘ quarterback also has a presence that is both camera-friendly magnetic to the viewers. Every time he appears in a podcast or a sports show, people want to see and hear what he has to say. This is a skill that can definitely be exploited and The Athletic did an analysis through media expert Richard Deitsch about the possibility of Aaron Rodgers getting a new gig while he recovers from the season-ending Achilles injury he just suffered. For Deitsch, the obvious choice is a no-brainer.
If you simply take a look at the many appearances he has made over the years, you can easily tell which sports show could approach him to get a regular spot in their schedule. Pat McAfee tends to get the exclusives with Rodgers and he remains a good friend of the quarterback. Deitsch didn’t specifically mention this show but he believes more than one network will definitely approach him to get a new gig and start his media career before people expected. He writes: “Call it a hunch: I would be stunned if a network did not reach out to Rodgers soon to see if he’d do a one-off in the booth or studio this season. Would he be interested? Who knows.”

Amid Tom Brady’s recent retirement, he signed a new contract with Fox Sports for millions of dollars that will see him start a new chapter in his sports career during November, 2024. That is still a long way but if Rodgers gets called by ESPN, this could be the start of a different type of rivalry between two of the most influential quarterbacks in modern NFL history. We know Aaron Rodgers still wants to make a comeback from that injury but there is no harm in jump starting his media career during this recovery period. It truly is a no-brainer for any network and a win-win for everybody involved. Surely Pat McAfee already thought of this as a possibility. Right?
