Aaron Rodgers gets warning from top surgeon: There's a chance it could break again

A rushed recovery could put Aaron Rodgers of further risk of serious injury, according to a top surgeon.

After suffering an Achilles’ injury, Rodgers is trying to return to action as quickly as possible.

“So the question is, how much can you load the tendon and keep inducing healing – and not risk a re-rupture?” Dr. Kevin Stone explained.

“I’m sure that he will return to football earlier than most people normally do and test it and see what happens.

“There’s a chance he will re-rupture it. And there’s a chance he will do just fine.

“So that’s what the great unknown is.”

The surgeon served as a physician for the US Ski Team and worked with several Olympic gold medallists.

Rodgers’ injury

Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury on the fourth snap of his first game as a New York Jet, a Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

He is expected to make a full recovery, but he will be out for the entire 2023 NFL season.

The injury is a major blow to the Jets, who were hoping that Rodgers would lead them to the playoffs in his first season with the team.

Rodgers is expected to undergo surgery to repair his Achilles tendon and he will then begin a long rehabilitation process.

The Jets have not yet announced who will start at quarterback in Rodgers’ absence.

Zach Wilson, who was drafted by the Jets in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft, is the most likely candidate.

The Jets also have Mike White and Chris Streveler on their roster as options.
