The Demons could have made it a five-goal lead but Shane McAdam’s set shot narrowly went to the right. Narrm have now had 12 scoring shots to two.

Not great from the Saints, who can’t find a way through the Demons to create any chances for themselves. They are being comprehensively outplayed.

Ross Lyon brought the Saints in as a group for much of the quarter-time break before they belatedly split into their respective zones. He looked to be very animated, with lots of gesticulating, but it’s hard to tell from here if it was a proper spray or not.

From his body language, it appeared to be more instructive. Whatever he said, I hope the message gets through to his players. They were comprehensively outplayed by the Dees in the first quarter.

Stifled by the Dees pressure, they could not perform even the basic skills, missing 20-metre passes. Often, they hacked the ball under pressure, as you’d expect a reserves park footballer to do.

Fortunately for the Saints, the Dees were wasteful in front of goal, so there is hope if they can clean up their act.

The siren has sounded, and what a response that was from Hawthorn.

Luke Breust had the final kick of the day, and put it through for a goal after the siren to make it a 25-point win over Brisbane, who continue to struggle this season.

“After last week, it was a bit unsettling. [We] probably couldn’t enjoy it until the final siren,” skipper James Sicily told Fox post-match.

He said Hawthorn’s mindset in the final quarter was to keep attacking the footy, adding he was pleased with the fight shown by his side.

“We’re a bloody good side,” he added.

The Hawks have now climbed up to 13th of the ladder, while Brisbane stay at 12th.

If the alarm bells aren’t ringing in the Saints coaches’ box, they can’t be far off.

The Saints are having trouble getting the ball, and when they do it’s under pressure and they cannot move the ball through the Dees’ defensive zone.

On the other hand, the Dees are not having much trouble getting the ball into their forward 50. The scoreboard is still manageable for now, but the Saints need to lift.

Well, it’s been an absolute day out for Jack Gunston, who has now kicked his fourth goal.

Hawthorn will know better than most the game’s far from over with five minutes left on the clock. In saying that, they’re up by 24 points and aren’t looking like giving up any time soon.

Brisbane have managed just the one goal this final quarter, while Hawthorn have four.

Mabior Chol outworked Brisbane’s key defender Jack Payne to take a contested mark in the Hawks’ forward 50. He then finished it off to give Hawthorn even more breathing room as the clock ticks down.

The Hawks have now kicked three goals to none this final quarter, while the Lions have booted three behinds.

Well, it looks like Hawthorn are adamant they won’t have a repeat of last week when they gave up the game by choosing to park the bus and stop attacking.

They have just kicked the two first goals of the final quarter, through Connor Macdonald and Calsher Dear, his second of the afternoon. There’s just over 13 minutes left on the clock, and the Hawks hold a handy three-goal plus advantage.
