Power ruckman Ivan Soldo has kicked a goal from close range although he did offer a little fake out before kicking after being challenged by a Dons defender.

The former Tiger is playing a solid roll for the Power and his mullet is still exceptional.

Power 70, Dons 28 with 14 mins to go in Q3.

Apologies for the mix-up, I had thought Boak had an ankle injury but it was a back injury that flared up.

The Power have activated their sub and sent Jase Burgoyne, son of Peter Burgoyne, into the game.

He has plenty of speed and talent.

A disastrous finish to that quarter by Essendon with Port Adelaide kicking three quick goals to stretch their lead to 35 points.

Connor Rozee is best on ground with three goals and 20 touches. His centre square work has unravelled Essendon.

Their uncertainty was on display in the final minute when three Bombers stood looking at each other while the ball bounced in the middle of them and landed in Jeremy Finlayson’s hands. He kicked a goal.

The Bombers need to consider tagging Rozee because his influence is too great at this point.

According to respected sports statistician Swamp, Essendon are in danger of losing their perfect 10-0 record in games played on April 5.

The Dons undefeated streak on this date is in danger of being knocked over.

For much of the second term, the Dons were on the back foot but kept the Power’s lead to a couple of goals.

But in the last five minutes of the term, the Power have kicked three late goals via Rioli, Rozee and Finlayson whose goal came just before the siren.

They have kicked eight of the last nine goals and hold a strong lead at half time.

Power veteran Travis Boak took a knock to his ankle earlier in the quarter and has looked in discomfort on the bench.

Channel Seven has reported he has gone down to the rooms for more treatment.

It seems unlikely they will use their sub right away but Boak looks like his night could be in jeopardy.

Rioli has snapped his second goal for the Power who should have a decent lead going into the second half.

Power 51, Dons 28 with 90 seconds left in Q2.

Jeremy Finlayson has held his body position and kept his balance to soccer home a goal off his shins and keep his defender from getting to the footy.

The Dons need to be better in defence. Otherwise, the Power could add to this lead.

Power star Connor Rozee had a goal and 13 disposals in the first term and it will be sadly familiar for the Bombers.

He has started the second term with more pressure work and a second goal.

If Essendon supporters feel as though Rozee has hurt them before they are right.

He polled three Brownlow votes in each of his two games against the Bombers in 2023.

The Power have made the most of the wind to start this second term as they pushed forward and found room for Darcy Byrne-Jones to get free and kick a goal.
