Collingwood debutante Will Parker has been thrown into the action with Mason Cox subbed out.

Cox is down in the rooms going through tests on his knee and the Magpies have made a call on the big man by subbing him out.

Parker looks ready to make something happen for the Pies.

The ex-cricketer has only played a handful of VFL games and was the last man added to the Pies’ list in 2024.

Clearly, Collingwood’s match committee rate him.

Mason Cox has landed horribly on his knee with his leg falling underneath him.

That looks horrible for Cox, with his right leg getting trapped underneath him as he fell from a marking contest.

He’s been in the wars tonight, but seems to be moving reasonably freely as he’s assisted off, so hopefully not as bad as it appeared.

He is receiving treatment, one wonders if they might call it a night for him.

Patrick Lipinski drifted to the fringe of the Collingwood side last year after two shoulder surgeries, and was lucky to start as the substitute in the grand final.

But he’s hit back hard in season 2024, and is playing a vital role tonight.

He’s hit Brody Mihocek with direct assists for both of the latter’s goals early in this quarter — Collingwood coach Craig McRae has long rated Lipinski as his team’s best kick inside 50.

Harrison has kicked his third goal and the Magpies are in front.

Mihocek is reminding his teammates what they were missing while he was out of the side.

He has booted his second goal in a matter of minutes, the latest one from a set shot.

Freo need a response.

The Magpies worked their way through Freo’s defence and managed to find Brody Mihocek by himself in the goal square for a point-blank goal.

The Magpies are looking more focused but Freo are right up for this match.

The Dockers took their chances that term and the Magpies fluffed theirs.

I can’t put it any other way. The Magpies could have grown their lead early in the term but missed their shots at goal.

The Dockers got going late in the term and kicked three-straight goals. That was all the majors for the term.

Collingwood champion Scott Pendlebury (game number 394) is just making the jaw-dropping observation that the Dockers have taken their chances. Who would have thought!

Walyalup have a 13-point lead, hardly insurmountable for the Pies. But 3.9 for the quarter is a very unsatisfying half for them. Again, they’re missing half a dozen first-choice players and the lack of continuity is perhaps starting to show.

Walyalup look strong, particularly at half-back where Luke Ryan, Jordan Clark and James Aish are winning a ton of ball and Alex Pearce was impassable early.

Collingwood’s Brayden Maynard managed to get into a half-time scrap with several of the Dockers, led by Nat Fyfe before he was dragged away.

Jaeger O’Meara has booted a goal to give the Dockers three-straight goals, he snapped it from open play after a 50m penalty at half-back sent the home side forward again.

Much of the focus ahead of this game had been on Walyalup’s poor conversion in front of goal.

Collingwood have caught their disease, missing three very gettable shots this quarter.

They’ve now been punished by three straight kicks by the Dockers, who have their tails back up.

Oh, and ex-Docker Lachie Schultz, in his 100th game, is getting booed whenever he’s near the footy.

From stoppage fest to shootout, the Dockers have kicked two rapid-fire goals via a Bailey Banfield free kick and then a snap from Sam Switkowski after some excellent tap work from Luke Jackson.

Now Cox has been sent back to the bench with a cut on the side of his face.

I can’t tell if it is from the knock he took in the first term or a new wound.

Either way, the American Pie is in the wars tonight.
