Alejandro Garnacho was spared the awkwardness of doing a canine-themed celebration over the weekend – as he failed to score against Tottenham

The Manchester United winger had promised streamer IShowSpeed that he would copy Cristiano Ronaldo‘s ‘Siuu’ celebration before barking in the event he scored.

However, the 19-year-old was fortunate not to score if only to avoid his barking obligations – though things could have been different as he was at the centre of a hotly debated penalty call.

Garnacho appeared to be brought down in the box by Spurs defender Destiny Udogie in the first half, but referee John Brooks took no action and VAR did not intervene.

Erik ten Hag vented after the game that, ‘I am used to it, all season that is the case. At Spurs there was similar, a clear handball from Romero and I can list a number more.’

The winger appeared on streamer IShowSpeed’s show the day before the game and promised him he would bark

Manchester United and Tottenham played out an entertaining 2-2 draw as goals by Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford were cancelled out by Richarlison and Rodrigo Bentancur.

And before the game, Garnacho made a ‘pinky promise’ to football-mad streamer IShowSpeed, 18.

‘Do the ‘Siuu’, then bark, just bark like this,’ instructed IShowSpeed, called Darren Watkins Jr., as he enacted the bark he wanted from the winger.

Watkins has gained further notoriety on top of his streaming reputation with his signature barking noises.

He could not convince Garnacho to do a backflip or a rather suggestive dance move.

Garnacho laughed and was in good spirits throughout his chat with Watkins on Saturday.

IShowSpeed is a football-mad streamer and is a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, which explains why he also wanted Garnacho to do the ‘Siuu’ celebration

His manager, Ten Hag, was not so happy with the decision to deny him a penalty and VAR failing to benefit Manchester United.

He added: ‘In some point of the season I think it will turn to our side. Let’s hope for that.’
