The rivalry between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese transcended the NCAA and arrived almost unchanged in the WNBA. Both players compete on and off the court in a large number of areas. However, there is one category in which neither of them would like to compete: the most hated player in the WNBA. One of them took the first place and by a wide margin.

It is common for a public figure to have as many followers as detractors. What one person likes about an idol is the same thing that someone else hates. WNBA players are not exempt from this, and the sportsbook BetOnline took on the task of discovering who is the most hated player on the women’s professional circuit.

BetOnline analyzed data from X, formerly Twitter, looking for posts with negative connotations such as “I hate Angel Reese or “I hate Caitlin Clark.” The results were surprising in revealing the tastes of the followers of the women’s league.

The most hated player is…

According to BetOnline research, Reese is the most hated player in the league, with no close competition. After the first month of the 2024 season, the Chi-Barbie attracted almost 200,000 negative posts. Her closest competitor attracted just over half that number, and it’s not even Clark.

In second place, the study revealed, is Chennedy Carter, with just over 100,000 negative posts, with Caitlin Clark in third place, with around 90,000 negative comments. Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, Clark’s Indiana Fever teammates, completed the Top-5.

The other players in the 2024 Draft Class are not exempt from appearing on the list. The second pick, Cameron Brink, appears in seventh place. Kamilla Cardoso is number 15, Rickea Jackson is number 22, and Aaliyah Edwards appears as the 25th most-hated player in the WNBA.

Hatred against Reese

Reese has divided opinions since her days in the NCAA. The Chicago Sky rookie star is known for his outspokenness and unapologetic attitude. As expected, her first meeting with Clark on the professional hardwood sparked.

In the duel this past June 2, Chennedy Carter earned the rejection of fans and players by delivering an undeserved shoulder check to Clark at the end of the third quarter. Reese applauded her teammate’s action, and neither apologized for what happened.

The unsportsmanlike action caused all kinds of reactions, although it was more support for Clark and rejection of Reese and Carter. After that game, Chi-Barbie showed no remorse and, on the contrary, said she was happy to embrace her role as a “villain” in the WNBA.
