At the moment, Minnesota Timberwolves‘ Anthony Edwards is arguably the most electrifying player in the league. He has been leading the Wolves to a fantastic season so far, who are 30-11 as leaders of the West and only behind the Boston Celtics’ 32-9 record in the entire league. The man is delivering some of the best basketball we’ve seen in years. People know how special he has been this season and have already booked months in advanced to watch him play in the Minnesota cold. One of these people who would travel to the snow right now just compared Ant to Kobe, Carter, and Jordan. High praise for the kid, but does he deserve it? Some of his latest highlight reels suggest that he does.
Anthony Edwards intimidates the Trail Blazers
None other than Stephen A. Smith said this on ESPN: “Listen to what I’m saying to you on national television. Right now when I see Anthony Edwards, I see in the making, Vince Carter, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan. You know how I hate cold weather. I’ll fly to Minnesota to see that brother. He is box office. Anthony Edwards, you hear what I’m saying to y’all, he is special. He ain’t there yet, in terms of the names I mentioned, but he is coming and he is box office. Worthy of walking through the turnstiles to see that brother play. He is a show-stopper. I want the NBA to put the Minnesota Timberwolves on national television even more. Yes. Yes. Yes.”
Is this the NBA’s golden age?
In previous decades, the NBA always had multiple talented players who have moved the sport forward with their achievements. The ’80s had Kareem Abdul Jabbar in the twilight of his career while Magic and Bird were coming up. Michael Jordan eclipsed everybody in the ’90s. Kobe did the samein the early ‘2000s alongside Shaq. LeBron and Curry had their moment each and both have 4 rings. But right now, there are too many great young talents. Ant is just one of so many. We have Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, Giannis, Tatum, Wemby, Chet, Booker, and even Ja Morant despite his personal issues. The NBA is oozing talent at the moment. Whoever comes out on top from this massive group does have potential to become the new NBA legend.
