Anthony Edwards has already had a “breakout” year, but he has become a true superstar during this season. He’s on pace to set career highs across the board while his name is being floated in Top 5 discussions.
A big reason for his success is a killer mentality, particularly on the offensive side of the ball where he loves to consistently attack defenders. While he generally doesn’t try to play mind games with opposing players, he may be trying to unlock a new method to get an edge over the competition.
Anthony Edwards stares directly into Blazers’ soul
Before taking on the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night, Edwards spent several minutes watching the Blazers’ warmup routine from the halfcourt line.
We’ve seen this type of tactic before, but not from Edwards. Houston Rockets forward Dillon Brooks has been doing something very similar – albeit looking slightly more intimidating – throughout this season. Edwards is clearly a fan of Brooks’ work.
TheTimberwolves ended up beating the Blazers and improved to 27-11, so Edwards’ tactic seems to have worked. We’ll see if he uses it again in the future.
