Inter Miami C.F. decided to include Sergio Busquets’ in Lionel Messi’s official presentation ceremony held at DRV PNK stadium in Miami, Florida.

The Spanish midfielder was the first player unveiled to the fans who had to wait hours under the rain for the ceremony to start.

DID BUSQUETS DESERVE BETTER?

Busquets, whose accolades include one World Cup Championship, three Champions League trophies, and nine La Liga titles to name a few, seemed happy to be included in the ceremony.

The midfielder took the chance to speak to fans after he was presented and showed off his English by speaking of his excitement to join the club:Thank you for being here. I am very happy to be in Miami. For me, it’s a pleasure to be part of Inter Miami…I’m so excited to start training and playing with my teammates. See you soon and thank you so much!”

With a trajectory as legendary as the 35-year-olds in the world of football one can argue that the ex-Barcelona star deserved his own introduction ceremony instead of being an opening act to Messi, where his moment seemed short and hurried.

Busquets, who was a fundamental part of Barcelona’s success in the 21st century, and was a teammate of Messi’s during his full career at the Catalan club, arrived to Inter Miami after 15 seasons with La Liga’s current Champions. He played a total of 721 games for Barcelona, making him the third player with more club appearances in history.

WHEN WILL BUSQUETS MAKE HIS DEBUT?

Sergio is expected to join all player obligations starting this week and is expected to be available for selection as soon as July 21, when Inter Miami will face off against Cruz Azul of Liga MX, in the opening match of the Leagues Cup.

The Leagues Cup will determine the three clubs that will get to play in the CONCACAF Champions Cup as the representatives from Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
