Caitlin Clark must be running out of words and sentences for her acceptance speeches after picking up yet another award, but WNBA fans noticed a subtle detail in her latest address.
The 22-year-old won her second consecutive Honda Cup award, which is given to the top female college athlete.

That will come as no surprise to anyone who watched the former Iowa Hawkeyes star in the NCAA, where she broke the all-time points scoring record previously set by Kelsey Plum.
Clark went on to be selected as the overall No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft and signed for the Fever, where she is slowly acclimatizing to the physicality of the league.
The Des Moines-born star spoke with a humble tone and came across as genuine, which speaks to why her fame has reached another level in 2024.
However, some fans believed she made a point about her head coach Christie Sides after praising her Iowa mentor Lisa Bluder.
When asked about her run with the Hawkeyes, Clark said: “I think that [the sisterhood at Iowa] is the reason we were as good as we were,” Clark said, per CBS Sports.
“Coach Bluder, in my eyes, she’s the best leader I’ve ever been around in my life. She knows how to build a team, she knows how to get individuals to work together.”

Fans on social media interpreted those comments as a subtle swipe at her current coach Sides, who was reportedly spotted arguing with Clark during their 88-87 defeat to Chicago Sky on Sunday.
One user said of Clark: “Sneaking dissing Sides” on X, to which another fan responded by agreeing with Clark: “Completely. And well deserved.”
Another wrote: “Even if it wasn’t an *intentional* dig, the message sure stands on its own and speaks volumes.”
While it clearly wasn’t a direct jab at Sides, Clark was left in doubt that Bluder has more respect from her at the moment.
Maybe that will change for the better over time, but it will be interesting to note how they get on in the coming months following their recent spat.
