Caitlin Clark hit back at Angel Reese by subtly suggesting that the Chicago Sky star is a keyboard warrior, as the Indiana Fever star earned her first victory of the 2024/25 WNBA season against the Los Angeles Sparks.

There’s lots of chatter about Clark at the moment, from her difficulty to adapt to the professional game, to her popularity being linked to institutional racism and most recently, from Reese, who appeared to suggest the Fever lack team unity at the moment.

“And that’s on getting a WIN in a packed arena,” Reese posted to X.com, formerly Twitter. “Not just cause of one player on our charter flight. #SKYTOWN.”

And the 22-year-old ex-Iowa Hawkeye hasn’t really paid much attention to it, but now she’s finally bitten back a bit as it appears she might be starting to show some signs of frustration and draws the line at Reese’s words.

“To be honest, I’m not really on social media,” Clark said when she was asked about the conversations surrounding her. “I’ve got to treat this like it’s my job.

“My job is to compete and play basketball every single day. I think the more attention we can get on every team around this league is going to help it get better and better.

“My job is just to continue to show up, help this team to get better. Obviously, we’re fighting for our first win [which they got on May 24], and that’s my main focus and that’s what I think about every single day and focus on the things that I need to focus on.”

NBA legends defend Caitlin Clark

Clark came into the WNBA as the overall first pick and someone who holds both the female and outright points’ scoring records in the NCAA, where she was a Division I national championship runner-up twice in 2023 and 2024.

So, it appears that some of the players in the top level of women’s basketball were not fans of the hype and wanted to use her to make a point about their own careers, much to the displeasure of LeBron James and now Charles Barkley, who both defended Clark.

“You women out there, y’all petty man,” Barkley said to Inside The NBA. “LeBron, you are 100% right on these girls hating on Caitlin Clark. Y’all petty girls.

“Y’all should be thanking that girl for getting y’all private charters and all the money and visibility she’s bringing into the WNBA. Don’t be petty like dudes.”
